0 Another GREAT Week at Eclipse!

(below)  Frankie Urzetta, Wayne Johnston and Tommy Gilstrap.  Frankie’s CD is progressing nicely.  We will be adding Ponte Vedra Presbyterian’s Youth Singers next Wednesday.  Stay tuned for that picture.

(below) Jim with his old friend, Stas.  He came all the way from New Hampshire to work with us.  It was a great pleasure to see him again.  Back in the day he and Melody (Jim’s daughter) performed on stage together.

(below) Gabriel “The Storm” Jarrett.  This amazing 7 year old is rocking the world!  He has performed on the Wendy Williams Show, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the CMA Awards and tonight at the Atlanta Speedway.

Reason #1} 

*The Music*

Reason #2}

*Gamble Rogers Himself*

On both Saturday and Sunday, Gamble Rogers himself will be performing via DVD inside the Visitors Information Center .

At 2 PM on Saturday there will be a showing of “The Water Bearer” featuring Gamble Rogers also inside the VIC.

Rogers was just hitting his peak when he died, on October 10, 1991, trying to save a man from drowning. The recreational area in Flagler County, where the accident occurred, was later renamed, “The Gamble Rogers Memorial Park”.

The Atlanta Constitution called Rogers, “an American treasure worthy of inclusion in the Smithsonian”.

In the liner notes of his album, Fruitcakes, Jimmy Buffett dedicated the recording to Rogers’ memory and wrote that Rogers, “taught me how to move an audience with dialogue and delivery as much as with music”.   In 1993, Rogers was posthumously awarded a Folk Heritage award.  ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide

1. “The Fingerstyle Guitar Contest” is Saturday evening in the East Plaza at the Gazebo, there will be no seating provided so a chair could be a good thing. If you would like to participate in a spontaneous jam session (in East or West Plaza) a chair is your responsibility.

2. “The I Remember Gamble Contest”

*The “After Festival” Party!*

Creekside Dinery (see ad in your program) will be
the location of the traditional party and it will be hosted by Lis and Lon Williamson and their musical ensemble.

Creekside is a sponsor of the festival and if you show up with a program or an arm band from the festival you can get one free drink with the purchase of a meal. The gathering will begin around 6 PM on Sunday and continue on until….?

*It all takes place downtown Saint Augustine FL.!*

For the first time ever, the festival will be utilizing a space on St. Augustine’s beautiful bayfront next to the Marina, and the City of St. Augustine’s Visitor’s Information Center next to the parking garage.

So come out and have fun and support your local businesses at the same time.

There will be no actual scheduled pick up and drop off as the driver will be on call (904 669 5541).

The municipal parking garage is bounded by West Castillo Dr. on the
north, Orange Street on the South and Cordova on the East. Rates are reasonable and the garage is very convenient to festival sites
including check in and ticket pick-up. It is also handicap accessible. In the core area of downtown street parking is metered until 5 PM on Friday and Saturday.

It is free after 5 those days and all day Sunday.
As you move out from the core of downtown street parking can be free anytime but is catch as catch can.

Musicians Unite To Benefit The St. Augustine Record’s Empty Stocking Fund

Eclipse Recording Company will release its ninth annual holiday CD, “Happy Holidays, St. Augustine, 2010” on November 26^th to benefit The St. Augustine Record’s “Empty Stocking Fund”.  This year’s release will be a specially priced double disc set.

The CD features a variety of local and nationally known musicians and is the brainchild of Eclipse founder, Jim Stafford, who opened the doors of his recording studio ten years ago. In the fall of 2002, Jim decided he wanted to give back to the community and came up with the idea of creating a holiday music CD to benefit St. Johns County families in need. This year again, 100% of the net proceeds Eclipse receives will be donated to the St. Augustine Record’s “Empty Stocking Fund”.

In what promises to be the best holiday release yet, 33 individual musical acts have donated their time and talent. This year’s collection will feature 18 original songs and 16 holiday favorites.  It will include two songs by Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, “Lights of Chanukah” and “Snowstorm”. Jay composed “Ashokan Farewell” which was used as the theme by filmmaker Ken Burns in his critically acclaimed PBS documentary “The Civil War”.

Contributing musicians this year include: Brian Washburn, Michael Todd McDonald, Darryl Wise, Elizabeth Roth, Big Pineapple, Antique Road Show, Frank Thomas, Ancient City Slickers, Anastasia Spiecker, Bob & Joline Patterson, Paradox, Rachel Carrick, Ray Kayanek with Trevor Wilson, Roger Genovar, Chelsea Cottave, Tammerlin, Mike Shackelford, Dave Besley, Emily Gilliland, Marianne & Janine, Steve Bennett with Vinnie Jacobs, The Mood, Russell George with Joyce Breach, Andrea Marquis, Eli Grimes, Walt Kulwicki, Mike Hart, Jennifer Allen, Steven Amburgey, Restless Kind and Tony Scozzaro.

Mick Stevens, cartoonist for the “New Yorker Magazine”, is contributing an original drawing as part of the CD package artwork.

The public is invited to attend the official CD release party which will be held Tuesday, December 7^th from 5 to 8 pm.  The event will be held at the offices of Eclipse Recording Company, located at 2155 Old Moultrie Road, St. Augustine, Florida.  There will be refreshments, performances by contributing artists and copies of the CD available for purchase.
